In a thrilling BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League encounter at Tsing Yi Sports Ground on Sunday (February 9), Kitchee emerged victorious with a hard-fought 2:1 comeback win against BC Rangers, claiming all three points.

Kitchee dominated possession from the opening whistle, creating several gilt-edged opportunities. The first clear chance came in the 12th minute when Ngan Cheuk Pan delivered an inviting cross into the danger area, only for Sherzod Temirov's left-footed effort to be brilliantly parried by the goalkeeper.

Kitchee continued to pile on the pressure, with Fernando Augusto causing havoc down the left flank. In the 18th minute, his pinpoint cross found Walter Junior, whose thunderous strike was expertly saved. Moments later, the towering striker Fiel Welthon rose highest to meet Walter Junior's corner kick, but his powerful header sailed agonizingly over the crossbar.

Against the run of play, BC Rangers stunned the crowd in the 28th minute. Guilherme Bitencourt's defense-splitting through ball released the pacey Lau Chi Lok, who showed remarkable composure to slot home with his right foot, giving BC Rangers a surprise 1:0 lead.

Kitchee responded immediately, with Fernando Augusto's precise delivery finding Walter Junior, whose goal-bound header forced a spectacular fingertip save from the goalkeeper.

BC Rangers took their slender 1:0 advantage into the interval.

The second half saw Kitchee lay siege to the BC Rangers goal. Their persistence nearly paid dividends in the 47th minute when Fernando Augusto's cross fell to Ngan Cheuk Pan, whose snap shot was well saved. Shortly after, Matheus Dantas tried his luck from distance, but his effort failed to trouble the keeper.

The equalizer finally arrived in the 54th minute through a well-worked move. Fernando Augusto, who was a constant menace on the left wing, delivered an inch-perfect cross for Fiel Welthon to power home with a clinical header.

The momentum was now firmly with Kitchee, and in the 61st minute, they nearly took the lead when Fernando Augusto and Fiel Welthon combined again, but this time the striker's header drifted inches wide of the upright.

The decisive moment came in the 70th minute when Walter Junior's teasing cross was spilled by the goalkeeper, allowing the predatory Fiel Welthon to pounce and bundle home what proved to be the winning goal.

In the dying minutes, Walter Junior almost added gloss to the scoreline, dancing past his marker before unleashing a venomous drive that drew an outstanding save from the keeper.

The final whistle confirmed Kitchee’s 2:1 comeback victory over BC Rangers, securing all three points.
