Tai Po hosted BC Rangers at Tai Po Sports Ground on Saturday afternoon (9th November) for the BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League fixture. Tai Po beat BC Rangers by 3:0.

The match kicked off with both sides struggling to find their rhythm, resulting in a cagey opening period. It wasn't until the 17th minute that the deadlock was nearly broken when Tai Po's Igor Sartori whipped in a dangerous cross from the right flank. Lucas Da Silva rose highest to meet it, his header looping over the keeper only to be denied by the woodwork.

Five minutes later, Tai Po threatened again. A slick one-two between Michel Renner and Lucas Da Silva saw the former surge into the box, unleashing a fierce drive from an acute angle that whistled past the far post.

BC Rangers finally showed some attacking intent on the half-hour mark. Suganuma Shunya delivered an inviting ball into the danger area, met by Hayashi Ryota's glancing header, but the goalkeeper was equal to it.

The hosts' dominance finally paid dividends in the 37th minute. A long ball from Tse Ka Wing found Lucas Da Silva, who showed great composure to draw the defenders before squaring it to the unmarked Law Chun Ting. He made no mistake, slotting home to give Tai Po a deserved 1:0 lead.

On the stroke of half-time, BC Rangers nearly leveled the score. Luiz Humberto's speculative effort from range took a wicked deflection, falling kindly for Okamoto Akito. The Japanese midfielder swiveled and fired, but the goalkeeper produced a spectacular flying save to preserve the lead going into the break.

The second half began with a heart-in-mouth moment for Tai Po. A miscommunication between Rangel Weverton and keeper Tse Ka Wing almost gifted Luiz Humberto an equalizer, but Tse Ka Wing recovered well to smother the danger.

Tai Po doubled their advantage in the 50th minute with a well-worked team goal. Igor Sartori's pinpoint cross found Lucas Da Silva in acres of space. The striker showed his class, calmly rounding two defenders before coolly slotting past the helpless keeper.

The hosts continued to press, and thought they had won a penalty when Chan Siu Kwan Philip went down under a challenge in the box. However, after consulting VAR, the referee reversed his initial decision.

Tai Po's relentless pressure finally told in the 60th minute. Lee Ka Ho latched onto Lucas Da Silva's through ball, delivering a teasing cross that BC Rangers' Chang Kwong Yin unfortunately turned into his own net, putting the game beyond doubt at 3:0.

Despite the scoreline, BC Rangers showed admirable spirit. Yiu Ho Ming's cross from the left found Luiz Humberto, whose acrobatic overhead kick flashed agonizingly wide of the upright.

Tai Po continued to create chances, with Lee Ka Ho's cross finding the unmarked Lucas Da SIlva, whose powerful header forced a spectacular save from the goalkeeper. Igor Sartori also came close, his snapshot from a tight angle well saved.

In the dying moments, Lam Lok Yin Jerry thought he had added a fourth, finishing off a flowing move involving Igor Sartori with a clinical finish. However, the linesman's flag was raised for offside, chalking off the goal.

As the final whistle blew, Tai Po emerged comfortable 3:0 victors, claiming a well-deserved three points.
