HKFC, showed early promise when Callum Beattie unleashed a left-footed free-kick from the right flank in the 7th minute, but it was comfortably gathered by the goalkeeper. They continued to press, with Daniel Scally delivering a dangerous cross from the right in the 15th minute, only for Leonardo Peres to slice his effort wide of the mark.

The momentum shifted when Lee Man's talisman Everton Camargo produced a magnificent solo run, covering nearly 70 yards from his own half before forcing a crucial save from the advancing keeper. The hosts then began to assert their dominance, with both Mitchel Paulissen and Samuel Rosa testing the goalkeeper from distance.

Drama unfolded in the 41st minute when Mitchel Paulissen's headed effort from Wong Wai's pinpoint free-kick was chalked off for offside following a VAR intervention.
