Mr. Eric Fok elected as Vice President of the East Asian Football Federation

Mr. Eric Fok, Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Football Association, was elected as Vice President of the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) at its congress held in Doha, Qatar, today (April 1). He will serve in the post from April 2022 to March 2026.

The EAFF, comprising 10 Member Associations, was established in 2002 for the promotion of East Asian Football. Through organising biennial tournaments, it aims to develop and strengthen the game of football by raising its standard in the region to the world's top level and by playing a leading role in Asia.

Mr. Fok has been a member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Executive Committee since April 2019 and successfully organised the 2019 AFC Annual Awards in Hong Kong for the first time in history. Impressed by his commitment in football development and rich experience within the AFC, Mr Fok received unanimous support from Member Associations to become Vice President.

Mr. Fok expressed his joy towards being elected and said "I am honoured to have won the trust of fellow Member Associations. With key positions in both the EAFF and AFC, I hope to act as a bridge and bring together collaborative efforts in promoting football and advancing football developments within the region. Looking forward to the inauguration of Hong Kong's Kai Tak Sports Park in 2023, I see a unique opportunity to host world-class flagship events in its 50 000-seat main stadium for fans in the region to enjoy and to boost the image of Asian football altogether."

"I am delighted to see clubs from Hong Kong performing well in AFC tournaments in recent years. Our focuses on grassroots football and development of youth elite also align with the overall direction of the EAFF and AFC. As for the Hong Kong Representative Team, we are honoured to be competing against Japan, Korea Republic and China in the EAFF E-1 Football Championship Final this summer. I wish all participating teams the best of luck and I am confident that Hong Kong football would prosper together with the East Asian region, " Mr. Fok said.
