BC Rangers and Kitchee squared off in Mongkok Stadium on Saturday afternoon for an epic battle in the FA Cup Final. Led by Cleiton Velasques’ hat-trick performance, Kitchee lit BC Rangers up with seven goals on the day and came out on top through a commanding 7:1 victory, while taking home the prestigious FA Cup trophy.
BC Rangers and Kitchee squared off in Mongkok Stadium on Saturday afternoon for an epic battle in the FA Cup Final. Led by Cleiton Velasques’ hat-trick performance, Kitchee lit BC Rangers up with seven goals on the day and came out on top through a commanding 7:1 victory, while taking home the prestigious FA Cup trophy.
BC Rangers tried hard in the opening minutes but it was Kitchee that launched the first genuine shot of the game on the 10th minute. Charlie Scott dished out an ambitious long shot that was nicely saved by Leung Hing-kit in the BC Rangers net.
Kitchee then took over the game and opened the score on the half hour mark. On the 30th minute, Law Tsz-chun teed up Charlie Scott with a fine pass. The latter uncorked a thunderous strike and found the back of the BC Rangers net, putting Kitchee in front 1:0.
On the 39th minute, Kitchee duly made it 2:0. Igor Sartori’s pass into the BC Rangers box found teammate Law Tsz-chun. The latter fired away but saw his strike cleared off the goal-line by Yiu Ho-ming. Cleiton Velasques buried the rebound and made it 2:0.
BC Rangers managed to pull one back on the 42nd minute, as Park Jongbum connected with a teammate’s corner-kick delivery and headed the ball home, cutting Kitchee’s lead into half.
Late in the first half, Kitchee quickly answered back, as Poon Pui-hin found himself on the receiving end of a teammate’s cross and headed the ball home with authority. Kitchee was up 3:1 all the way to the half time whistle.
Kitchee started the second half positively and expanded its lead through rapid manner, as Mikael Severo and Charlie Scott both found the back of the BC Rangers on the 58th minute and 60th minute respectively. Kitchee was pulling away at 5:1, with the game barely crossing the hour-mark.
Kitchee was not done on the day and added to the score on the 72nd minute, as Cleiton Velasques and Mikael Severo played a neat one-two on the BC Rangers end. The former finished things off with a neat strike, turning the score to 6:1. Kitchee was gradually pulling away.
On the 76th minute, Kitchee’s Igor Sartori delivery a lovely forward pass and found Mikael Severo. The latter unleashed a timely shot but saw his effort rung off the goal-post. Cleiton Velasques took care of the rest and scored, making it 7:1 while completing his hat-trick.
The score stood all the way towards the final whistle, as Kitchee cruised past BC Rangers 7:1 in the FA Cup Final and took home the silverware.
