2022-23 BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League – HK U23 0:5 BC Rangers


HK U23 entertained BC Rangers in Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground on Saturday afternoon for one of the three BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League fixtures of the day. BC Rangers put five unanswered goals past HK U23 and defeated the host through a 5:0 win.

Shortly after the opening whistle, HK U23 produced an early scoring chance. On the 7th minute, Marco Cheung unloaded a cracking free-kick towards the BC Rangers goal, forcing out a superb save from goalkeeper Lo Siu-kei.

On the 10th minute, it was BC Rangers’ turn. Lam Hok-hei found just enough opening inside the HK U23 box and pulled the trigger. However, Lam’s shot was smartly denied by young Ngan Ho-tin in the HK U23 goal.

BC Rangers went on and took the lead on the 16th minute, as Lam Ka-wai’s corner-kick found teammate Francisco Cassio. The latter dished out a tasty header and found the back of the HK U23 net, while putting the visitors in front 1:0.

HK U23 tried to equalize and nearly did so on the 19th minute, as Yuen Sai-kit belted a long range bomb straight at the BC Rangers goal, only to be nicely claimed by Lo Siu-kei in net.

On the 36th minute, BC Rangers almost added to its lead. Lam Ka-wai sent a decent free-kick into the HK U23 danger area. Kim Minkyu connected with a timely header but was turned away by a solid stop from HK U23 goalkeeper Ngan Ho-tin.

The visitors made it 2:0 on the 41st minute. Lo Kwan-yee knocked the ball towards the middle from the left side. Lam Ka-wai connected with a powerful strike but saw his shot hitting the crossbar. Walter Junior took care of the rebound and headed the ball home. BC Rangers was now leading by two goals.

The first half completed with BC Rangers up 2:0 over HK U23.

BC Rangers started the second half with a bang and scored in successive fashion.

On the 53rd minute, Ryota Hayashi stepped up to a Lau Chi-lok pass and drove the ball home, making it 3:0 in the process.

Several minutes later, Lo Kwan-yee connected with a teammate’s centering pass, then delivered a diving header that found the back of the HK U23 net. The score was now 4:0.

On the 65th minute, BC Rangers almost netted its fifth goal of the game, as Lam Hok-hei’s strike from inside the HK U23 box sailed just wide off the intended target.

BC Rangers finally established a 5:0 lead on the 69th minute. Lo Kwan-yee sent a corner-kick into the HK U23 box. Kim Minkyu pounced on the delivery and blasted the ball home with conviction. It was now 5:0 for the visitors.

Late in the game, Jerry Lam tried to put HK U23 on the scoreboard, yet his free-kick attempt was nicely handled by Lo Siu-kei in the net.

The 5:0 score lasted all the way towards the final whistle, as BC Rangers earned a commanding victory over HK U23 away from home.  .
