Fifth Round of the Anti-epidemic Fund

2022-01-19

The Government announced the fifth round of Anti-epidemic Fund measures on January 14, 2022, providing relief for premises and individuals directly affected by the latest round of tightening of social distancing measures. Sports-related measures include the following two schemes –

1. Sports Premises Subsidy Scheme

The Scheme aims to provide a one-off subsidy of HK$50,000 to each sports premises with a view to easing their cash flow pressure and alleviating their financial burden arising from their closure starting from January 7 as directed under the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) Regulation (Cap. 599F). According to the Regulation and the Application Guidelines of the Scheme, eligible sports premises must possess a fixed address and an individually operated premises in Hong Kong where its principal and substantive business is to provide sporting activities as promoted by the respective "national sports associations" or sports organisations recognised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD).

To apply for subsidy for eligible sports premises, applicants may download the application form from and make reference to the relevant Application Guidelines on the website of the Home Affairs Bureau (HAB) (www.hab.gov.hk/en/policy_responsibilities/fitness/aefv5spss.htm). The Scheme is open for applications from January 17 to February 16. For enquiries, please call the HAB hotline at 3509 7061.

2. One-off Grant to Registered Sports Coaches Scheme

Since LCSD facilities were temporarily closed again from January 7, many sports training activities that relied on the provision of LCSD facilities were suspended again. The Government therefore relaunched the Scheme to provide a one-off grant of HK$5,000 for each eligible registered sports coach, aiming to provide timely financial relief.

Sports coaches registered under "national sports associations" or recognised sports organisations who had provided coaching services from January 1 to December 31, 2021, are eligible to apply. They may submit applications to the Sports Funding Office under LCSD (the application form will soon be uploaded onto LCSD's website www.lcsd.gov.hk). The Scheme will be opened for applications from January 20 to February 28. For enquiries, please call the LCSD hotline at 2601 7473.

The Hong Kong Football Association reminds eligible clubs and coaches to submit applications within the application period as soon as possible, in order to timely receive the subsidy or grant from the Government.
