The Disciplinary Committee considered that it was a serious misconduct of the players involved to disregard anti-epidemic measures and breach the relevant rules of the local host and organiser during the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, it decided to impose severe punishment onto the ten players involved, suspending their eligibility for selection into the Hong Kong Representative Team for one year. Five players were also found to have breached the Code of Ethics for Representative Team Members. Based on the severity, they were fined HK$3,000 and HK6,000 accordingly.

The HKFA understands the public’s concern on this incident. It hopes that the players involved would learn from this and be more aware of their conduct as a player and a representative team member in the future.
