Port FC (THA), Kitchee renew hostilities in latest AFC Champions League 2021 Group J fixture

Kitchee is set to face its latest challenge in the AFC Champions League 2021 Group Stage on Tuesday evening by taking on fellow Group J side Port FC (THA). Match venue for the electrifying affair is Buriram Stadium, Thailand, and kick-off time is set for 22:00 (Hong Kong time).

Reigning Hong Kong Premier League champion Kitchee has done exceptionally well in the latest edition of the AFC Champions League, racking up three wins, one loss and nine points from four Group J fixtures so far, trailing group leader Cerezo Osaka by a single point. In order to maintain its hopes on challenging for a first-place finish in the group, Kitchee will settle for nothing but victory on Tuesday night, hoping to beat Port FC and to continue to exert pressure on Cerezo Osaka.

Veteran striker Dejan Damjanovic has been turning back the clock in the AFC Champions League 2021 Group Stage, scoring in four consecutive games for Kitchee. The trust-worthy marksman is bound to test Port FC’s resolve on Tuesday evening with his timely runs and clinical finishing. In addition, Daniel Cancela has served his suspension against Guangzhou FC in the previous fixture and should be available for selection once again, which should be a boost to the Kitchee lineup.

Kitchee head coach Alex Chu points out that Port FC still aspires for qualification and will be ready for the upcoming fixture against Kitchee.

“Port FC still has a chance to make it to the next round of the competition and with home field advantage on their side, we will really need to get our heads together and see how we can breakdown the opponent,” stated the wily tactician.

“At this moment, physical recovery will be the most important matter for the Kitchee players.”

“With only two days between rest, how we prepare for the next game will be extremely crucial. Furthermore, switching from an all-out attack in the previous game, to a more counter-attack playing style, will also be extremely vital.”

Port FC currently sits third in the AFC Champions League 2021 Group J with one win, one draw, two defeats and four points from four group fixtures. Although the Thai side might have fell short to Kitchee by 0:2 in the first game of the group stage, Port FC did show undeniable quality on the field. Attackers such as Sergio Suarez and John Rokotonomenjanahary are dangerous and aggressive, making them a handful for Kitchee to contain. Thai forward Pakorn Prempak has found the back of the net on two occasions for Port FC so far in the group stage and should not be overlooked as well.
