Early in the game, Wofoo Tai Po quickly applied pressure towards the HK U23 net, yet Fung Kwun-ming’s long range blast failed to hit the intended target, while Paulo Simionato’s header was easily claimed by Ngan Ngo-tin in the HK U23 goal.
The home side broke the game open and went ahead on the 13th minute. The referee spotted a HK U23 player committing a foul inside his own penalty area and quickly awarded Wofoo Tai Po with a penalty shot. Paulo Simionato assumed the spot-kick duty and fired the ball home, putting Wofoo Tai Po in front 1:0.
HK tried to answer back afterwards, yet Krisna Korani’s header was easily handled by Wofoo Tai Po goalkeeper Li Hon-ho.
Later on, Wofoo Tai Po had splendid chances to pull further away, yet shots from Cheng Tsz-sum and Paulo Simionato were all denied by Ngan Ho-tin in the HK U23 goal.
Afterwards, the home side came close to doubling its lead once again. However, Chan Hiu-fung’s close-range shot was cleared off the goal-line by a HK U23 player.
Late in the first half, Wofoo Tai Po continued to lay siege towards the HK U23 end, as Paulo Simionato and Chung Wai-keung both saw their goal-scoring chances turned away by HK U23 goalkeeper Ngan Ngo-tin once again.
The first half closed out with Wofoo Tai Po enjoying a 1:0 lead over HK U23.
Early in the second half, Wofoo Tai Po finally netted its second goal of the game, as Naveed broke loose, darted into the box and fired the ball home, putting the home side in front 2:0.
It was still Wofoo Tai Po afterwards, as Gabriel Cividini’s header sailed over the Wofoo Tai Po crossbar, while Luiz Dos Santos’ shot was once again stopped by Ngan Ngo-tin in the HK U23 net.
On the 81st minute, HK U23 managed to pull one back, as Wong Ho-yin connected with a centering pass and knocked the ball into the net, making it a 1:2 game for HK U23.
However, Wong’s goal proved to be too little too late, as Wofoo Tai Po nursed its lead all the way towards the final whistle, beating HK U23 by 2:1 on the day.
