Coming off an encouraging 0:0 draw against Bahrain last week at home, Hong Kong currently finds itself sitting on the fourth spot in Group C with two draws, two losses from four matches. The team was resilient at the back and managed to put together some dangerous counter-attacks against Bahrain, thus giving supporters hope on the upcoming fixture against Cambodia.

Striker Giovane Da Silva, midfielder Tan Chun-lok, defender Leung Nok-hang and goalkeeper Yapp Hung-fai all played superbly against Bahrain, while veteran defender Daniel Cancela has served his one-game suspension and will be once again available to face Cambodia. Successive defeats against Bahrain (at home), IR Iran (away) and Iraq (away) have left the Cambodians mired in the Group C basement, yet a victory on Tuesday night could take them over Hong Kong in the group-standing and out of the cellar of the group.

Led by Samurai superstar and current Cambodia general manager Keisuke Honda, as well as head coach Felix Dalmas, the South East Asian side has retained its typical characteristics – speedy and nimble, while adding courage and confidence into the squad. The side participated in an international friendly match against Mongolia last week at home and earned a 1:1 draw, bucking its losing skid on the international stage and that is bound to inject some timely self-belief into the Cambodian players.
