Eastern nearly drew first blood just four minutes after kickoff when Marcos Gondra delivered an inch-perfect long ball that split the defense. Martins Givanilton expertly controlled in the danger area before squaring to the unmarked Manuel Rodriguez, who incredibly struck the woodwork with the goal at his mercy.
After weathering the early storm, HKFC settled into the contest and mounted several promising attacks.
