In a thrilling international friendly at Mong Kok Stadium on Tuesday (November 19), Hong Kong,China clinched a narrow 1:0 victory over Mauritius.

The hosts dominated proceedings from the outset, with Everton Camargo testing the visitors' defense early. The winger saw his initial effort blocked at the edge of the box, before another mazy run down the right flank was thwarted by the goalkeeper.

The visitors threatened on the counter when Jeremy Villeneuve’s pinpoint cross found Quebtin Lalsing unmarked, but the striker's effort was expertly thwarted by Yapp Hung Fai.

The deadlock was broken in the 11th minute through a moment of individual brilliance. Everton Camargo, latching onto Oliver Gerbig’s through ball, cut inside from the right before curling a sublime effort into the top corner.

Mauritius responded well, with Jeremy Villeneuve forcing a smart save from a tight angle before Dylan Collard nodded over from close range.

The hosts continued to press, with Matthew Orr’s strike drawing a fine save, while Stefan Pereira had a goal chalked off for offside after finishing Fernando Augusto’s delivery.

Another golden opportunity fell to the hosts on the half-hour mark, as Stefan Pereira's inviting cross from the left found Everton Camargo, who fired agonizingly wide.

Mauritius's task was made harder when Jean Colin received his marching orders for a second bookable offense in the 42nd minute.

The hosts took their slender advantage into the break.

After the restart, Hong Kong,China looked to capitalize on their numerical superiority, with Walter Junior pulling the strings in midfield but failing to find the target with two attempts.

Walter Junior squandered a gilt-edged chance in the 64th minute, pouncing on a defensive error only to drag his shot wide of the post.

Walter Junior remained at the heart of the action, seeing his header from Everton Camargo’s set-piece gathered by the keeper before blazing over from Sun Ming Him's cutback.

The ten-man visitors mounted a late surge, nearly equalizing through an own goal when Jeremy Villeneuve delivery caused chaos, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
