On Sunday (November 17th), in the JC Sapling Cup (Group B) clash at Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground, Kwoon Chung Southern edged out Lee Man 1:0, bagging all three points.

After the opening whistle, Lee Man dominated possession but struggled to carve out clear-cut chances. Tachibana Ryoya whipped in a cross from the left flank, which Samuel Orsa chested down for Mitchel Paulissen, but his effort sailed wide.

Lee Man came close to breaking the deadlock in the 23rd minute when Julian Hamada’s corner from the left found Samuel Rosa, whose header was dramatically cleared off the line by Kawase Kota.

Kwoon Chung Southern responded in the 26th minute as Chan Hoi Pak Paco delivered a pinpoint long ball from the left. Jackson Franklim met it with a thunderous strike from a tight angle, only to be denied by a fine save from the keeper.

The home side continued to press, with Mahama Awal attempting an audacious bicycle kick from a throw-in, but failed to find the target.

Lee Man nearly caught Kwoon Chung Southern off guard with Mitchel Paulissen ambitious chip from the halfway line, which narrowly missed the mark.

Just before the interval, Jiloan Hamad’s free-kick from the edge of the box was acrobatically tipped away by the diving goalkeeper. The sides went into the break deadlocked at 0:0.

Kwoon Chung Southern finally broke the stalemate after the restart. In the 58th minute, Mahama Awal and Jackson Franklim combined brilliantly on the right before delivering a cross that found the unmarked Chan Hoi Pak Paco, who nodded home from close range to make it 1:0.

The hosts continued to threaten, with Mahama Awal latching onto a sublime through ball from Lai Kam Yi and unleashing a venomous strike from a tight angle on the left, only to rattle the side netting.

In the 70th minute, Mahama Awal ghosted past a defender after receiving a through ball, but his tame effort was comfortably gathered by the keeper. Moments later, Gregory Rocha collected a pass from Mahama Awal and fired a left-footed drive from the edge of the area, which took a deflection and narrowly cleared the crossbar.

Trailing Lee Man mounted a late siege. In the 77th minute, Gaizka Martinez's long ball found Simionato Paulo Sergio via Samuel Rosa’s chest pass, but his right-footed effort agonizingly missed the target. Simionato Paulo Sergio then met Mitchel Paulissen’s free-kick delivery in the box, only to see his shot bravely blocked by a flying defender.

In the end, Kwoon Chung Southern held firm to secure a hard-fought 1:0 victory over Lee Man, claiming maximum points.
