BC Rangers met up with Kowloon City in Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground on Sunday afternoon for the JC Sapling Cup Group B fixture. BC Rangers beat Kowloon City by 2:1.
On Sunday (November 17th), BC Rangers clinched a crucial 2:1 victory over Kowloon City in the JC Sapling Cup (Group B) clash at Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground, bagging all three points.
Kowloon City came out of the blocks firing, with Chan Man Fai unleashing a long-range effort in the 7th minute after a neat lay-off from Ho Long Ho, but the goalkeeper was equal to it. Moments later, Chan whipped in a cross from the left flank, but Tsang Ka Chun's header sailed wide.
BC Rangers threatened in the 17th minute when Barak Braunshtain’s free-kick from the right found Suganuma Shunya, who nodded it down for Hayashi Ryota to slot home from close range, only for the linesman's flag to cut short the celebrations.
Kowloon City nearly broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark, as Kayron Ramos’ left-footed free-kick from the right forced a spectacular diving save from the keeper, who tipped it behind for a corner.
Kowloon City came close again just before the break, with Au Yeung Ho Ming teeing up Kayron Ramos on the edge of the box, whose curling effort towards the far post narrowly missed the target. The sides went into the interval deadlocked at 0:0.
BC Rangers came out firing in the second half and drew first blood in the 58th minute. Okamoto Akito’s long ball found Lau Chi Lok, who showed great composure and skill to round the keeper and slot into an empty net.
BC Rangers continued to press, and three minutes later, Lau Chi Lok latched onto Barak Braunshtain’s long ball, bursting into the box only to be denied by the onrushing keeper.
The hosts doubled their advantage in the 74th minute when Barak Braunshtain’s corner caused havoc in the box. The keeper's punch went awry, allowing Lau Chi Lok to pounce and fire home from close range.
Kowloon City refused to throw in the towel and clawed one back in the 82nd minute. Willian Leonardo’s long ball found Lam Hok Hei, who kept his cool to round the keeper and slot home, reducing the deficit to 1:2.
Kowloon City pushed for an equalizer in the dying moments, with Lam Hok HEI’s free-kick whistling just wide of the post.
In the end, BC Rangers held on for a hard-fought 2:1 victory, securing all three points.
