Hong Kong, China came up with an early chance, yet Wong Wai’s long-range shot failed to hit the intended target.

Thailand tried to get involved and came up with its own chance on the 4th minute, as Chanathip Songkrasin’s drive was smartly claimed by Yapp Hung-fai in the Hong Kong net.

The visitors came close to breaking the game open on the 18th minute, as Teerasil Dangda connected with a teammate’s centering pass, sent a leaping header towards the Hong Kong, China net but ended up hitting the woodwork.

A few minutes later, Thailand’s Teerasil Dangda took down the ball nicely in the Hong Kong, China area, then pulled the trigger but volleyed the ball over the goal.

Thailand seemed to be the more dangerous side and nearly found the back of the net on the 35th minute, as Supachok Sarachat thunder bolt was brilliantly saved by Hong Kong, China goalkeeper Yapp Hung-fai.

The first half concluded in goalless manner.

On the 61st minute, Thailand produced another great scoring chance. This time, Chanathip Songkrasin spun-around inside the Hong Kong, China penalty area but sent the ball wide.

Moments later, the visitors finally pulled ahead. Veteran marksman Teerasil Dangda gave chase to a teammate’s forward pass, beat a Hong Kong, China defender to the ball, belted it past goalkeeper Yapp Hung-fai and into the net. Thailand was up 1:0 at this point.

Afterwards, Hong Kong, China tried to come back, as substitute Chang Hei-yin uncorked a right-footer from the flank but fired the ball high.

Later on, Hong Kong, China forward Matthew Orr’s header was denied by Thailand goalkeeper Chatchai Bootprom.

The 1:0 score stood towards the final whistle, as Thailand claimed a 1:0 victory over Hong Kong, China on the evening.
