RCFC met up with Sai Kung on Thursday evening in Shek Kip Mei Park Sports Centre for the Jockey Club Futsal League(FA Cup 2nd Round).With R17 scoring two goals, RCFC defeated Sai Kung through a commanding 4:1 victory and advanced to the semifinals.
RCFC had a strong start with Wong Wai Kwok and Lee Ching combining for a left-wing attack on the 4th minute, but the shot was blocked by the goalkeeper. On the 5th minute, Chung Chun Ho attempted a shot from distance but missed the target. Sai Kung also created some chances, with Chan Ho Chun's free-kick being blocked by the defender on the 6th minute and S6’s rebound shot was gone wide.
As the game progressed, RCFC gradually took control of the game. On the 9th minute, Wong Ching Tak broke through the middle and fired towards the bottom corner, only to see his effort was denied by the goalkeeper. RCFC finally broke the deadlock on the 12th minute, Wong Wai Kwok connected with Yoong Ka Hei’s lovely pass and blasted the ball home.
It was Sai Kung’s turn on the 15th minutes and they found the equaliser. A sloppy clearance from RCFC gave the ball away easily, Wat Ho Kwan, collected the ball and fired it home inside the box. However, RCFC responded immediately and regained the lead in just one minute, Wong Wai Kwok scored his second goal with a fast shot in a crowded box after a corner-kick, making it 2:1 for RCFC.
RCFC continued to pressure Sai Kung and had several chances to expand their lead. Wong Ching Tak's effort from the edge of the box was paved away by the goalkeeper on the 17th minute, and Wong Wai Kwok couldn’t find the target after connecting with a long pass from teammate four minutes later.On the 20th minute, Chung Chun Ho fired the ball into an unguarded net from after Sai Kung's goalkeeper’s mispunch, making the score 3-1 in favor of RCFC at halftime.
In the second half, Sai Kung missed several scoring chances, including a long shot from Chan Ho Chun that hit the crossbar. In the 26th minute, Lui Ka Wing connected with a header from a teammate, but the goalkeeper saved it. RCFC scored their fourth goal in the 33rd minute when Tsui King Yau Issac rebounded the ball into the net after Chung Chun Ho's saved free-kick. RCFC still had another chance to score in the late second half, but Tsui King Yau Issac’s effort was cleared off the line by a defender. In the end, RCFC held onto their lead until the final whistle, beating Sai Kung 4:1 and advancing to the final four.
