In the quarterfinals of the Jockey Club Futsal League FA Cup, Wong Tai Sin and Kuitan put on a thrilling display of goal-scoring at the Shel Kip Mei Park Sports Centre on Thursday. Ultimately, it was Wong Tai Sin who emerged victorious, defeating Kuitan 4-2 and securing a spot in the semifinals.
Wong Tai Sin wasted no time in making their mark, scoring the first goal just three minutes into the match. Kwok Chun Tung connected with a free-kick delivery from Yan Wai Hong and fired it into the top corner, giving Wong Tai Sin an early 1-0 lead. Despite several chance to equalize, Kuitan was unable to find the back of the net until the 11th minute, when Cuenca Ralph Ambrad scored a goal off a counter-attack set up by Law Chi Pan.
Wong Tai Sin regained the lead on the 16th minute, with Cheng Tsz Lung passing to Lin Chi Shing inside the box, who easily scored to make it 2-1. Wong Tai Sin extended their lead to 3-1 in just one minute, Yan Wai Hong blasted the ball into the top right corner. The first half finished with Wong Tai Sin enjoying a 3:1 lead over Kuitan.
After the half-time break, Kuitan came out more determined and tried to back into the game, but their efforts were thwarted by Wong Tai Sin’s organised defense and counter-attacks. On the 25th minute, Wong Tai Sin scored another goal off a counter-attack, with Kwok Chun Tung receiving a pass from Lin Chi Shing and scoring an easy goal to make it 4-1.
Kuitan did not give up and produced some solid scoring chances. After Hui Leung Fat hit the post with a powerful shot on the 26th minute, Kuitan finally fought one back on the 32nd minute, Choi Chi Chung connected with a lovely pass from Law Chi Pan, rounding the goalkeeper and tapping into an empty net. However, Wong Tai Sin held on to their lead for the rest of the game, winning 4-2 and advancing to the semifinals.
