BC Rangers was the more aggressive side in the early goings and came up with, not one but two, shots towards the HKFC net, yet efforts from Ibrahim Yakubu and Walter Junior both failed to seriously test HKFC goalkeeper Frederick Toomer.
BC Rangers opened the score on the 14th minute. Yumemi Kanda unleashed a sweet free-kick that rung off the HKFC crossbar. Ibrahim Yakubu went for the rebound and directed the ball towards the net, Walter Junior added a decisive touch at the doorstep and sent the ball into the net. BC Rangers was up 1:0.
HKFC drew level shortly past the half-hour mark. On the 32nd minute, Robert Scott delivered a dangerous cross into the BC Rangers penalty area. Thiago Da Silva applied a nifty header and found the back of the BC Rangers net. The game was now tied at 1:1.
Afterwards, BC Rangers regained its composure and tried to take the game towards HKFC, yet somehow failed to come up with the needed goods.

After the game resumed in the second half, BC Rangers almost went in front once again, as Walter Junior’s shot from inside the HKFC penalty area hit the crossbar and stayed out of the net. HKFC dodged a bullet on the occasion.
BC Rangers took the lead on the 63rd minute. The HKFC defense failed to effectively clear away a BC Rangers corner-kick. Kim Minkyu picked up the ball, shook off his marker and drilled the ball home with authority, making it a 2:1 lead for BC Rangers.
The visitors nearly added to its lead late in the game, as Walter Junior made a darting run into the HKFC box with the ball and let rip, only to smash it wide.
Both sides failed to add to the score in the remaining regulation time, as BC Rangers saw off HKFC and earned a 2:1 victory away from home.
