After picking up the first BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League MVP honor in January this year, the red-hot Kitchee winger Fernando Pedreira has been named as the winner of the BOC Life HKPL MVP trophy (March, 2019) again, co-handed out by The Football Association of Hong Kong, China and the Hong Kong Sports Press Association.

By scoring six goals from five games in March 2019, the unstoppable striker from the Blues claim this award for the second time in 2018-2019 season. To Pedreira himself, good things are worth the wait, and it may be also true that good things would come in pairs.

“I am very happy as this means my job has been coming good by helping the team to win the games and have good shape. I feel so thankful to everyone in Kitchee who trusts me and I will work harder going forward.”

Despite the fact that Kitchee have gone through a rather disappointing season start by comparing with what they had achieved in the last season, the Brazilian winger is still keeping a positive mind and will be trying to complete the remaining games together with his teammates.

“Yes we dropped some points at the very beginning of the season, we did have chance to win the games but unluckily we conceded goals and could not make a good start.”

Official being eliminated in the Hong Kong Premier League title race after Week 17, the Blues still have AFC Cup and FA Cup to compete for. The AFC Cup victory over Hang Yuan FC from Chinese Taipei should be a perfect result to the team for the upcoming challenges. Pedreira promises that he and the team will put their best foot forward and give it their one hundred percent effort into the remaining competitions.

“We need to keep going because no one knows what is going to happen at the end of the season. We will try to win every game left in this season and see how far we can go.”

Pedreira has already claimed a number of individual honors after joining Kitchee in 2015, including Footballer of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year, Most Favourite Player in 2016-17 Hong Kong Top Footballer Awards, and was continuously named as one of the Best XI of BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League in the past two seasons.

When asking if he is confident to be named as one of the Best XI again this year, Pedreira stresses that instead of seeing individual honor as the most important thing, the team is something that he really cares.

“I have not thought about this yet, this is just a bonus for myself. The most important thing is to win the games with the team.” He insisted.

“It is very difficult to say at this stage. I do not know if I will be named in the Best XI.”

There is no doubt that Pedreira is a team player, but after all, being named as one of the Best XI of this season will absolutely be a recognition of his hard work and contribution throughout this season.

“I having been working hard for the team and the teammates since the start of this season. If this is really coming, it would be very good for me and the team.”
